A more modern picture this week from the late 1960's, taken in Broad Street close to where Boots is today, featuring a yellow mini, a Reliant car, and a British Road Services van, plus cyclist! #ReadingLocalHistory

The area where this photo was taken has changed enormously with the arrival of the IDR, but the Holybrook is still there, it now runs alongside Mallard Row. The caption suggests that the path over the bridge ends up at Holybrook House on Castle Hill. #ReadingLocalHistory

The Crowne Plaza Hotel that is on this site now is currently undergoing changes, but this photo shows the hotel that was on the same plot back in the 1930s, back when it had a lovely green lawn and trees running down to the river! #ReadingLocalHistory

This is Caversham's iron panelled public lavatory at Chiltern Open Air Museum. Previously situated on the east side of Caversham Road, it was originally built in 1906, & was dismantled & moved in 1985, before being officially re-opened at the Museum in 1991 #ReadingLocalHistory

A lovely sunny photo of Broad Street, Reading, taken around 1965, with a no. 17 trolleybus passing in front of Heelas. It would appear to have been taken from an elevated position outside the Marks and Spencers store. #ReadingLocalHistory
