@r_steurer

I analyse denial, pseudo-solutions & hypocrisy in the climate crisis.
As a Prof for Climate Politics I see too much of it.

Looking for empirical proof of the #Gretaeffect in climate policy-making? In 2020, the Danish government replaced a symbolic Climate Change Act 2014 with a substantial one. This is the story of how this was possible, with @sarah_wien. 50 free copies tandfonline.com/eprint/YNC59FI…

The #EU #taxonomy on sustainable investment is meant to boost the #GreenEnergy transition, but a new draft reportedly counts the #fossilfuel #naturalgas as 'green'. Reinhard @steurer.bsky.social says this is disastrous for EU policy & reputation #greenwashing fm4.orf.at/player/2021110… Radio FM4

Zeke Hausfather This is not a semantic issue ("deeply problematic language"), this is plain climate crisis denial. Thus, I find the language you use deeply problematic.

Kai Gehring My take: As you write, "Politicians search for support, not truth" - and economics usually gives them the support they are looking for (more GDP growth, jobs...) - at the expense of non-economic issues. In the climate crisis, mainstream economics helped to justify the status quo.

Kai Gehring "Initially"? As non-economist I have the impression that, from 1990s into the 2010s, the most influential parts of mainstream (climate) economics has helped to rationalize the status quo. Nordhaus over Weitzmann, so to say. Essential years lost & now "Vergangenheitsbewältigung"

This is the most remarkable form of denial I have ever seen when it comes to Bitcoin and energy consumption. Bitcoiners concerned about the climate crisis are really desperate. journal.bitcoinreserve.com/bitcoin-a-bold…

Peter Kalmus Could you Peter Kalmus add a photo of the entire upper half of the title page to put this into perspective - and to save this as a historically relevant proof of how we have perfected repression. For the fresh look at the psychology of the climate crisis⬇️x.com/R_Steurer/stat…
