It really doesn’t have to be like this…Record sewage spills into England rivers and seas in 2023 bbc.co.uk/news/science-e…

Under this Tory government, where you are born too often dictates where you end up. Labour will change that. Angela Rayner and I have set out how. thetimes.co.uk/article/keir-s…

On a per person basis it’s considerably worse than the headline figures. This was a period of rapid population growth. On a per person basis GDP has been falling consistently for two years. Not sure calling this a “mild” or “technical” recession quite gets at the scale.

Be clear; every river, lake and sea ruined by the sewage scandal all sanctioned by the Tories deliberately and in full knowledge. The Labour Party introduced a Bill to end the scandal last year. Tory MPs lined up to vote against its 2nd Reading. That’s the reality.

Anti-minimum wage lobbying from hospitality firms is ramping up - warnings of it decimating the sector or having "dire consequences". Which is odd because hospitality isn't shrinking it's fast growing, from 6 to 8% of jobs since the minimum wage was introduced

This whole conversation is a disgrace, and I'm glad there is growing uproar on all sides about it. People who are homeless need support and services to help them rebuild their lives, not to be criminalised for the effects of being homeless. theguardian.com/society/2024/a…

Absolutely fantastic explainer from Ed Conway showing just what that 2.3% inflation figure really means for your pocket. Inflation might be heading back towards "normal" levels - but prices have risen 20% since 2021. And that's why people are feeling poorer.

Seems the Renters’ Reform will not pass before election. 2019 manifesto promise to end no fault evictions will be broken. Months of work by stakeholders tossed aside. Delays caused by wrangling with backbenchers while evictions surged. More than 4m households left in precarity.
