4/7. There are no industry norms and few guidance documents to inform the decision about how much to pay, or how to pay Research Participants. The vacuum is filled with folklore and diverse practices.

6/7. There is little evidence to show that payment increases recruitment and retention of Research Participants, and this is not always why payments are made anyway.

7/7. Payments for research participation overlap with payments for some other activities. Applying the payment rates designed for Public Contributors to Research Participants could treat people well and increase the cost one hundredfold.

Some authors have suggested that gaining support from the Research Ethics Committee is a one-time event. How often do researchers go back to the REC with a proposed amendment during a study? Has anyone counted?

I would like to connect with mental health services that have used the Green Light Toolkit to improve their response to autistic people and people with learning disabilities. Please get in touch...

Sent to my MP: Please stop the Government sending asylum seekers to Rwanda. It is a shameful abuse of power, breaches international law on refugees, punishes the victims of crime rather than the perpetrators, deprives our country of talent and won't work.

Is this the most up to date statement suggesting when Public Contributors should be asked to undergo a DBS check? Since the Police Act 1997 makes it illegal to ask for an unnecessary check, it's important to get it right. See myresearchproject.org.uk/help/help%20do…

I'm fundraising for solar lights for a girls school in Sierra Leone. 25 new students start on 3 September and each one needs a Sun King Pro 200 costing £37. Eco solution that will light the whole household after sundown at 7pm. Please message me if you would like to fund a light.

How do you publish your Community Asset Map and meet your confidentiality and copyright obligations? Do these rules get in the way of coproduction? Thanks for your thoughts on this.

I asked NHS England for their resources related to a course they are running on how to engage with patients and the public. It turns out that they are secret and can only be shared with NHS staff. Coproduction? All my stuff is free at peterbates.org.uk/home/linking-a…
