Now we know why Rishi Sunak refuses to negotiate with NHS staff. He wants the strikes to go ahead, so he can blame doctors and nurses for his failure. #PMQs

This is the Litmus strategy that Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust have signed up to. Deliberately slashing your pay then trying to "grip and control" you. No thought given to staff or patients. Know your worth. Do not pick up locum shifts for insulting rates.

1/2 THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: The media would have you believe NHS staff have had "bumper pay rises" and all is well, but the data released this week show another story👇. Real terms pay in the NHS remains⏬whereas its🔼for others. Everyone will be 👀 Pay Review Bodies very closely

I can tell you all you need to know about my qualifications in four letters: FRCS. For this feller it requires a paragraph of educationalist word salad.

Following yesterday’s strike ballot result, we met with Wes Streeting It’s clear: the Government is refusing to negotiate on pay. We are now preparing for a full 5 day walk-out, beginning on Friday 25 July. Our door will always be open to constructive talks. #PayRestoration

This is disingenuous and misleading. This is the scenario: - You have £100 - I take £40 from you - Now you have £60 - I give you £20 back - You now have £80 Is it really unreasonable for you to demand the remaining £20 back over the next few years?! No, it’s not.

I really don’t agree with this analysis. Competency is the issue, and competency is gained *at some point* in our lives. That was not the case in enfranchisement debates regarding women, where it was simply misogyny that led to them being deemed incompetent.

There has been a lot of discussion of doctors’ pay progression in the NHS, arguing this is a valid reason as to why F1 doctors are paid 30% less than newly qualified Physician Assistants (less medically qualified and capable than F1s throughout their career) See image below 1/

Medicine as a degree is no longer worth pursuing in the UK. The only reason any qualification has meaning or value anywhere in the world is because the qualification is a required license to perform a certain job or role in society. The qualification gives exclusive access to
