We implore the parties in #Sudan to grant us immediate and unimpeded access to assist civilians in need. This is not optional – it is a legal obligation under international humanitarian law. Statement by Mirjana Spoljaric (Archive):

In the places that ICRC works – frontlines, camps, prison facilities - children suffer enormously. At the heart of protecting children in armed conflict lies respect for international humanitarian law - it must be upheld. #ProtectChildrenInConflict icrc.org/en/document/we…

IMPORTANT REMINDER: In 2008, governments adopted the Convention on Cluster Munitions, which prohibits the use, production, stockpiling and transfer of cluster munitions. ⁦Erik Tollefsen⁩ ⁦ICRC⁩ icrc.org/en/document/ic…

1. Working in affected countries clearing and disposing explosive submunitions before the #CCM came into force in 2008 sometimes felt like the the curse of Sisyphus. The convention helped curb the grim statistics of this weapon that causes indiscriminate harm and suffering.
