Today marks the 100th birthday of President Jimmy Carter, an extraordinary global figure and friend of our city. In 1977, President Carter became the first sitting U.S. president to visit Newcastle, leaving a lasting impression with his warmth, humility, and commitment to peace

For his final Rock Show on ⁦BBC Radio 2⁩ Johnnie ⁦Johnnie Walker⁩ thought he’d dress for the occasion… Tonight at 11pm with his favourite rock tracks. 🎸🎸❤️🥂 ⁦Liz Barnes⁩ (the Queen of Rock)

A sad day as Johnnie Walker hosts his final radio show. Millions of us will miss his warmth, love of music, the stars who sounded like mates… and you were our incorrigible, irreverent mate, who had all the best rock’n’roll stories. Sail on safely, Pirate JW. 📻 #JohnnieWalker

Never met him in person, yet felt as if you knew Johnnie Walker personally hearing him on the radio for so long. Will be listening this afternoon once more.

Emotional farewell for Johnnie Walker this afternoon on BBC Radio 2. He's been the voice, the arbiter of good taste, the rebel, and of course a pioneering pirate for my life. Gonna miss the man so much but wish him every joy in his post broadcasting era. Thank you Johnny!

BBC Radio 4 Today Emma Barnett Read the comments. Disgraceful, piss-poor, unprofessional interview by the incredibly rude Emma Barnett who thinks haranguing and hectoring her guest with the one 'gotcha' talking point from the Daily Mail is a good tactic. We learned nothing. Try harder. Get better people.

BBC Radio 4 Today Emma Barnett This was a shocking interview from Emma Barnett The poor reaction to it should tell her & indeed the BBC they need to concentrate on the things that actually matter to the majority, these endless, repeated 'gotcha' questions are tiresome & mostly lead to nothing

Is he the multi-billionaire James Dyson who bought estates to become one of Britain’s biggest landowners? The same flag-waving Dyson who backed Brexit then moved his HQ from Wiltshire to Singapore? I do believe he is.

Did you see our great market hall featured in The Telegraph newspaper over the weekend? We’ve had lots of national media coverage over the past year, but it’s still always a thrill every time it happens. “It’s a community hub and a browser’s delight.” Read the full piece.
