There was a lot to like about Rhett Lowder’s latest start - and all of his big league starts so far. "It was a very impressive outing for a guy who was in college last year. I was certainly impressed," Twins manager Rocco Baldelli said. atmlb.com/3ZmDlU1

Hunter Greene threw 52 pitches over three simulated innings today. Next up is a start for the Reds, most likely Sunday. Andrew Abbott threw a side bullpen session and has another scheduled. Still a chance he returns. Bell said Nick Lodolo will not pitch again this season.

This isn't good to see. Brandon Williamson grabbed his left arm, perhaps his elbow area, after a 2nd inning pitch to Michael Harris II. He is leaving the game. Williamson only four games back from a shoulder injury that had him out all season until Sept 1.

Steer's 2-run home run in the 7th gave the Reds a 6-5 lead over the Braves. It also made him a 20-20 player this season, along with De La Cruz. First set of Cincinnati teammates to have a 20-20 season since Larkin and Davis in 1996.

Somewhere, unofficial Reds bunting instructor Brett Butler would be pleased. TJ Friedl has dropped two perfect squeeze bunts within a week. Just did it to Atlanta in the 6th inning and he also did it on Friday at Minnesota.
