Fernando Cruz, who has been the Reds' best reliever this season and had a 7 scoreless inning streak going, just gave up a grand slam to Cronenworth. Reds down 6-2 in the 7th.

Candelario, who made a costly error not catching India's toss to 1B, gets a run back with an RBI single that scored Espinal. It's a 2-2 game in the 5th.

Trading Juan Soto, then telling Jurickson Profar to become Juan Soto was certainly an outside-the-box strategy, but...

Profar, a $1 million signing at the start of Spring Training, is 3-for-3 today, 7-for-11 this series and .336/.426/.518 on the season.

Profar isn't a fun at-bat for Ashcraft today. He's 3-for-3 and just hit a two-out, two-run single that gave the Padres a 2-1 lead in the 4th inn.

Even some Padres fans appreciated what Fairchild did here robbing Machado of a 3-run HR with a leaping catch at the fence.

Steer hit a 2-2 Musgrove curveball into the LF seats for a 2-out HR in the 1st. Steer's first homer since April 6 vs. the Mets. He has four overall.

Justin Wilson said he underwent treatment today on his right leg after being hit just below the knee by a line drive last night. No longer limping, Wilson said he would be OK.

Encarnacion-Strand (left hand) and Stephenson (right hand) have not played since their HBP's Saturday at Texas. Bell said the IL not a consideration.

“I think they’re pretty close,” Bell said. “With the off day [Thursday], I would imagine both guys will start on Friday.'

CES and Stephenson remain out another day.
