I have received a number of pictures of Fall Armyworm egg masses over the past couple of weeks. Be sure to follow the weekly trap counts of FAW by subscribing to KY Pest News kentuckypestnews.wordpress.com/2024/07/30/202… So far no reports of damage to turfgrass.

Today was the hottest day of 2024 for many! Numerous sites topped the century mark. Our station in Muhlenberg County near Central City takes top prize for the day's highest temperature (102)! #kywx

Some very healthy looking poa has emerged in Northern KY on herbicide injured zoysia plots over the past two weeks.

Fall armyworm eggs are hatching in Lexington. The first picture I took two days ago with full eggs. I assume they were laid a few days prior.

Temperatures are running warmer at all sites vs. this time a day ago. However, dew points remain dry. Thus, humidity levels are running quite low...even < 25% in some cases. While the wind isn't much of a factor this afternoon, fire danger is elevated given the dry soils. #kywx

Rainfall amounts at our sites since midday Thursday. Decent, beneficial amounts for some, little to none for others thus far. #kywx

Drought Monitor per NIDIS Drought.gov: Remnants of Hurricane #Francine failed to deliver widespread rainfall across the Commonwealth last week. As a result, #drought degradation is now showing up for many. We now have D3 (Extreme Drought) conditions near Ashland in the east. (1/2)
