Congratulations to Daewon Koo on successfully defending his dissertation today. Under the guidance of Shawn Askew, Ph.D., Dr Koo has advanced both basic & applied science in the use of spray drones. (He was tasked w/ highlighting major discoveries from his work: it was extensive!)

THANK YOU #Turfgrass Research Center mgr. John Hinson for teaching Virginia Tech Turfgrass Science seniors about using specialized turf equipment. Students learned how to operate a Toro TX1000 Dingo, mow using a Lastec XF200 deck, & cultivate the surface w/ a @Ventrac Aera-Vator.

ABW update from Alejandro Del-Pozo & team: Slowly picking up some adult numbers at Kings Mill & The Federal Club courses. Overall densities are still low in Central and Eastern Virginia.Also, no immatures have been recovered from soil core samples. VGCSA #vaturf Syngenta Turf US

ABW update for central/Eastern VA by Alejandro Del-Pozo: no spike in adult numbers yet. But, based on previous year, expect to see increase of ABW adult densities during mid to late April; have accrued around 150 GDD in both locations. Soil core sample collection starts next week.
