Loved working with the dedicated teachers at Ropes Crossing Public School as we recently unpacked the concepts that Tessa Daffern so clearly articulates in this podcast. Nerida Rylewski

What a difference our mural has made to the school. This design tells the story of travelling along a journey together. I hope students will feel proud of their identity and the community will reflect on how much can be achieved if we work in unison. Cathy Brennan NSW Dept of Education

The Great Book Swap is a great way to celebrate reading, learn more about Indigenous languages and culture, and raise funds for the ILF. Schools, workplaces, libraries, universities and all kinds of organisations can register. This year, we are aiming to raise $350,000!

I told all three of my student teachers, that you must be able to learn how to change your instruction on a whim to meet your students. What works one year, may not work the next year.

There is a very good reason that Explicit Teaching is the primary pedagogy that is supported through What Works Best and the Schools Excellence Framework. It is great to see more and more schools adopting it as their signature pedagogy. It Works!!!

More than a couple of NSW Dept of Education teachers posting on social media about their participation in yesterday's protests. These are not my colleagues, not representative of our profession and certainly not people I'd want teaching my own children.

When students cheat on assignments it is because they have been taught that grades are more important than knowing things. We need to fix this.

I really like these strategies that turn highlighting into deliberative and effort fun learning. I particularly like the brain-book-buddy strategy and will be trying it with my chemistry class this week. edutopia.org/article/highli…

Teachers trust admins who: - follow up on commitments - bring them into decision-making when appropriate - are transparent around why decisions have been made - are direct when there's a problem - find moments to validate and praise efforts and achievements Anything else?
