At tonight's HelsinkiJS June 2024 #meetup -- which is also a TC39 Community Event -- software engineer Jon Kuperman, one of the convenors of TC39-TG4, will be discussing "The Future of Source Maps" (18:00 EEST) bloom.bg/3yND1Cp #JS #JavaScript #sourcemaps

We had a great event at Maria 01 last night with speakers from TC39. Thanks to Eemeli Aro for putting the program together, Ujjwal Sharma, Michael Ficarra & Jon Kuperman for the talks and Otto Hilska from Swarmia for sponsoring!

ECMAScript explanations 😉 🎬 Jon Kuperman from Tech At Bloomberg gives a talk (29 mins) on "The Future of Source Maps" at Web Engines Hackfest in A Coruña, Spain. Jon is one of the convenors of TC39 Task Group 4 that is standardizing source maps. youtu.be/dre3gPQlYvg

TypeScript excitement 😉 Today TS 5.5 ships Isolated Declarations 🎉 An epic collab between Tech At Bloomberg Google TypeScript to enhance .d.ts emit & unlock performance 🔥 Thanks to Titian Cernicova-Dragomir 💙💛 Hana Joo Thomas Chetwin Jan Kühle Lisa Velden Jake Bailey Wesley Wigham 👍

Made a fun thing with Cloudflare tech daily.jonkuperman.com

Landed a set of Node.js APIs that aim to be a built-in alternative to v8-compile-cache & v8-compile-cache-lib with better performance and ESM support. github.com/nodejs/node/pu… Some early testing by Jake Bailey showed that it can make tsc load ~2.3x faster 🚀

Today, I'm releasing a TypeScript compiler called ts-blank-space 🎈 We use this at Tech At Bloomberg to perform type-stripping on a modern subset of TypeScript. It's written in TypeScript and is fast because it uses whitespace to enable work-skipping. bloomberg.github.io/ts-blank-space

TypeScript excitement 😉 Congrats to Ashley Claymore on releasing a brand new type-stripping compiler: ts-blank-space ✨ ⚡️ 5.6x faster than tsc due to zero-codegen 🔷 Written in TS 💯 Uses the official TS parser 🎯 Accurate/preserved source locations 💪 Battle-tested in production

ECMAScript excitement 😉 Congrats to TC39-TG4 Nicolò Ribaudo 🏳️🌈🇪🇺 Jon Kuperman Asumu Takikawa on the approval of the brand new Source Map Format standard at the Ecma International General Assembly 🎉 ECMA-426 specifies and clarifies the behavior of source maps used for JavaScript and other languages.
