TC39 has formed a new Task Group to standardize Source Maps. Source Maps are a file format used for debugging and post-hoc analysis of JavaScript and other languages. The convenors of TC39-TG4 are Jon Kuperman and Littledan.

Bloomberg is pleased to support TC39-TG4, a new task group devoted to source maps, a key element in #JavaScript, #CSS & #WebAssembly debugging. TG4 will work to improve the debugging experience and to drive the adoption of a source map standard. ecma-international.org/news/ecma-tc39…

Landed a set of Node.js APIs that aim to be a built-in alternative to v8-compile-cache & v8-compile-cache-lib with better performance and ESM support. github.com/nodejs/node/pu… Some early testing by Jake Bailey showed that it can make tsc load ~2.3x faster 🚀

Today, I'm releasing a TypeScript compiler called ts-blank-space 🎈 We use this at Tech At Bloomberg to perform type-stripping on a modern subset of TypeScript. It's written in TypeScript and is fast because it uses whitespace to enable work-skipping. bloomberg.github.io/ts-blank-space
