Great first day at Lunar 🚀

I didn’t realise how much I’d miss a little thing in offices (from my agency days). Music. It’s been 5 years of silent in-house jobs. It’s nice to be somewhere with a little noise again 🕺🪩

I absolutely LOVE being a Manager and focusing on the people side of Product Design. But I think my next role will be going back to being an Individual Contributor. Maybe as a farmer in the middle of fucking nowhere with no access to the internet.

The benefits of (finally) working on product that I use regularly is that I found a weird pattern last night when ordering cards for a joint account and we’re going to fix it today 🙌

I booked in a session with Mark Boyes-Smith to talk design leadership on ADP list and noticed he has a podcast. I gave it a listen this morning on my way to work and what a lovely surprise to hear Chris Gibbons 🇪🇺🌍 voice talking about some of the awesome things we worked on together 😍😍

I like pushing Levitts JTBD quote further when explaining the concept. People don’t want a drill, they want a hole. But no one actually wants a hole in their wall. They want to hang a photograph of their family so that they can relive a happy memory. Solve that.

I’ve been (lightly) diving back into Swift so I can help review the design systems at work. I forgot how “easy” is and now feel like I’m going back down the rabbit role of learning more! Granted, many years of writing React have hugely helped. So similar.

Huh. I was looking at a holiday with Jet2tweets yesterday but needed to go out so thought I’d just book it today. It’s now £700 more expensive! 🤯 Ahh well, I’ll look elsewhere.
