#ThroughHerEyes We can tell the story of our lives in recipes. Or so it seems to me. I was giddy when I found a recipe, thought lost, tucked into 'All in the Cooking'. The authors, Josephine B Marnell, Nora M Breathnach, Ann A Martin and Mor Murnaghan, should be better known.

I’m in Florence to speak at ‘Brigid in Europe’, an intercultural event btw Ireland & Italy & feeling like I’m following in the footsteps of Irish scholar Donatus, bishop of Fiesole in the 9th century & big fan of Brigid. 1/ Kildare Heritage Early Irish Maynooth brigid1500.ie/event/brigid-i…

For #StBrigidsDay, we’ve turned our attention to the customs observed on the saint’s feastday in Co. Kildare. In 1937–38, local schoolchildren vividly described making crosses & brídógs, visiting holy wells, and more: rb.gy/skvdvm #LáFhéileBríde #brigid1500 #kildare

Happy #LeapDay! In December 1923 while a Civil War prisoner in Kilmainham Gaol, Joe McHenry received a letter from his friend Lizzie. She wrote that she'd be 21 that year and 'dickens of a sign of a man. However as this is "Leap Year" we'll live in hope + do a bit of proposing'
