Should publishing companies pay you for contributing a chapter to a book project? Have you written a chapter and got paid in the past? Is it industry norm not to pay for the author's time and effort if contributing a book chapter? Please share your experience and views

Some would argue that academic recognition for them is sufficient, others differ. Did it cross your mind to ask if you would be paid for your contribution? Who benefits most from the book sales? The publisher or the listed book editors?

It does not seem like a very fair nor just arrangement.
