Couldn't be at #metascience2023 cause I'm finishing up my PhD about the value of #preregistration in psychology. This week I submitted 2 papers, one in which we empirically assess prereg strictness and consistency, and one in which we compare prereged and non-prereged studies.

Wow- it's really surprising that many journals impose time limits for post-pub critique on what they publish. This is unconscionable- I've never heard of a time limit for any other type of scientific discourse. via Tom Hardwicke #Metascience2023 royalsocietypublishing.org/doi/10.1098/rs…

#Metascience2023 talk on post-publication critique in journals reminds me greatly of the COMPAare study, which was a stunning piece of work: trialsjournal.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.11…

Zoltan Dienes talking at #SIPS2023 about PCI-RR. As Collabra: Psychology is a SIPS journal, this seems like a good time to announce that Collabra is moving to become a “PCI-RR friendly” journal (we were “PCI-RR interested”), imminently! More info soon! PCI Registered Reports (@[email protected]) SIPS (Account Archived - See Bio)

We have a poster at #SIPS2023! Beth, Sarah, and Alex Park hand-coded key p-values from hundreds of papers, and now we’re wondering what to do with them. We know they’ll show evidential value, so that’s not the most interesting test. Got other ideas? Beth Clarke Sarah Schiavone

I’m biased (as a past board member of AIMOS), but I think we should judge scientific societies (in part) by the awards they give. If you, too, want to be part of AIMOS, come to our conference Nov 21-23 in Brisbane (Aus) and online! Or give AIMOS a follow for other events.
