That is why I am so proud to have passed the Freedom to Read Act to end school book bans with Senator Rachel May (RachelMayNY.bsky.social). On Juneteenth, we commemorate the true end of slavery in the U.S., marking the day in 1865 when the last enslaved people in Galveston, Texas, finally received word of their freedom. It’s a day for reflection, celebration and a continued commitment to equality and justice for all.

Yesterday, our community stood in powerful solidarity with our trans friends, neighbors, and loved ones after the devastating Supreme Court decision. Huge thanks to the ACLU and all who showed up to say loud and clear: we won’t stop fighting for trans rights. 🏳️‍⚧️✊
