For a lot of us in schools it's a struggle at the moment. We have to work together and do things differently. Education Alliance for Life Chances brings together schools, the NHS, the local authority, the police, University of Bradford and our star researchers Centre for Applied Education Research to tackle the barriers we face.

4 in 5 16-18 year olds say they need to move areas for better opportunities, including 90% in Yorkshire. This is stark - we are losing talent to other areas. We need to grow opportunities that provide secure well paid jobs and career progression. theguardian.com/inequality/202…

Yet again-more stark evidence of where you live making a negative impact on children’s life chances. Here at the EALC we are working to alleviate the impact of poverty on young people's life chances. suttontrust.com/news-opinion/a…

Looking forward to next week’s Learning Symposium in Keighley. The headline is ‘Built in Bradford, Not Bolted On’ - can’t wait to collaborate with others to improve health outcomes in the Keighley area.

Incredibly proud that EALC’s Act Locally: Keighley has been shortlisted for ‘Research initiative of the year’ award for the Bradford District and Craven Health and Care Partnership Awards 2023. It’s great see our pioneering work being recognised!

EALC director Kathryn Loftus is attending todays Food Symposium in Bradford. Hoping to find support and ways to help our place-based program 'Act Locally' in #Keighley where local people prioritised tackling food insecurity, poor diet and nutrition

Key learnings from Ofsted report include: - Alliances with voluntary/community sector essential - Engagement with communities should be standard - Schools should be involved at all levels Our #actlocally work across #Bradford does all this and more! gov.uk/government/new…

Interesting to read this EEF report on school attendance. Our multi agency school attendance task and finish group looks beyond our district to find the best evidence of what works to tackle severe and persistent school absenteeism. eef.li/St6MUZ

Great to see so many involved and engaged in change-making at our first Holme Wood Schools and VCSE Network meeting! This group has been created out of our Act Locally program in Holme Wood and exists to connect education settings with voluntary and community organisations.
