RCEM has launched a unique training programme to empower paramedics and emergency care professionals to engage in academic research 🏥 In collaboration with College of Paramedics and National Institute for Health and Care Research - the modules will take learners from the fundamentals of research through to applying

Tom Roberts Yes, exactly. Even before this paper, I discussed likelihood of SAH and risks/benefits of LP with the pts. The main one being definitely knowing for sure whether something bad has happened ie the removal of uncertainty. The answers often surprise me.

Physicians! You need to know the figures from this study when you talk about lumbar puncture with your headache patient. A negative CT means a low post-test probability. How many LPs do we need to do to identify one SAH? What will the patient accept? SAM Online

Tom Roberts Dr Sarah Edwards Absolutely incredible work. Well done Tom Roberts and the wonderful @TERNfellow team/ contributors. Looking forward to covering this on TheResusRoom for Octobers papers of the month!

Louella Vaughan Tom Roberts By surprising, do you mean that often patients don't feel the need to choose absolute certainty and are happy with clinical judgement and low probability sans LP?

Congratulations to Tom Roberts and @TERNfellow on the publication of the SHED (Subarachnoid haemorrhage in the emergency department) study. A prospective, observational, multicentre cohort study. Research in Emergency Care, Avon Collaborative Hub UWE Health Research emj.bmj.com/content/early/…

More great content from Saint Emlyn's as we review the SHED study with Dan Horner Tom Roberts @TERNfellow Is this a game changer for SAH diagnostics? I think it will, but is the evidence that robust? Read and find out. stemlynsblog.org/the-subarachno…

Tom Roberts And now the in depth review on Saint Emlyn's too :-) Thanks Tom Roberts stemlynsblog.org/the-subarachno…

Wondering what to do on a Sunday? Have a read of this commentary of the @TERNfellow SHED study. SHED is also being presented today at EUSEM in Copenhagen. emj.bmj.com/content/early/…

Some words on providing emergency medical care to survivors in the Central Mediterranean, while countless more lives are lost at sea. With an incredible colleague, Sofie Karlsson, and MSF International. Online emj.bmj.com/content/early/… or free pdf here - emj.bmj.com/content/emerme…

Between US and now UK cuts to aid, the effects in South Sudan & other lesser-documented crises will be unimaginable. Already children dying every day for lack of food. Thinking of MSF International colleagues there trying to do the right thing in extraordinary times cgdev.org/blog/which-cou…
