A rocketing bus fare rise hits young people, families and all those who can't afford a car. It entrenches years of unequal burdens, is the opposite of a progressive transport pricing policy, and means less for better travel across the country. Incredibly poor. #Budget2024

£3bn in lost revenue by freezing fuel duty. Again. Meanwhile, 50% fares hike for those using buses, 4.6% increase in rail fares and a paltry £100m for walking & cycling infrastructure. This government is taking us in completely the wrong direction on transport. #Budget2024

Fuel duty staying frozen and discounted for another year, at 10 x what it would have cost to keep the £2 bus fare cap. Make it make sense 🤦 #Budget2024

The Chancellor throwing £3bn to freeze fuel duty while the cost of public transport continues to increased at or above inflation. The Chancellor talked of making tough choices … on transport, she’s taken the spineless option of taking from the poorest to bribe the wealthy.

As well as bus fares going up by 50%, train fares will go up by 4.6% (above inflation) and most railcard prices will go up by 16.6%. Fuel duty, meanwhile, is frozen for the 14th year running, and the "temporary" cut is not reversed. A Government of public transport, indeed.

Arriving home to congestion, fumes and chaos after a budget featuring: ❌ rail fare rises, ❌ railcards up £5 ❌ bus fares up 50% … and fuel duty frozen 🤦‍♂️ These streets were built for railway workers and this community used to be a liveable neighbourhood. We prefer this…?

A list of things this government will do before asking motorists to pay a few £ per year: -Cancel high-speed rail projects -Raise train prices -Increase bus fares 50% -Literally let the elderly freeze to death War on motorists? Can people please stop pretending that's a thing.

I really have to despair at the UK leadership's utter lack of ambition on active travel. Paris is getting everything right. We're being consigned to a future of car dependency, road danger & suing for clean air.

The Netherlands’ systematic approach to road safety—especially on walking and cycling—is a textbook application of the Hierarchy of Controls: an industrial method which identifies a preferred order of actions to best reduce hazard exposure based on their general effectiveness…🧵

Carla Denya is right about what Trump represents. He was created by a feeble Democrat Party. His policies are embodied in Farage and Badenoch. Britain is not immune. Starmer's "hard choices" are destructive in every way. Greens and allies must take the fight to them.

Housing should be planned alongside public transport. Disjointed development exacerbates the existing problems. It's good to see Cardiff growing, but instead of dual carriageways, there should be trams, cycling & walking infrastructure. walesonline.co.uk/news/wales-new…

Sufficient time for all users? So why do drivers get priority while we're still waiting nearly a minute in the rain & snow? Could you make the strategy public or should I make a FoI request?

Is 8.45am really the best time to be collecting a skip outside a primary school? This is an example of why School Streets are required across the vale; signs do not work, even if they're in the shape of children. Peidiwch a pharcio yma indeed.

Great to see a new zebra crossing being installed outside Albert Primary. Hopefully a first step towards a #SchoolStreet to allow easy access directly to FriendsBelleVuePark There is really no need for through-traffic on this road, as the closure demonstrates
