The youths who stole Clare Hanna's posters will gather around a pyre on the 11th night & cheer as they go up in flames. The woman whose image they burn will be the new MP. South Belfast has changed: damaging posters or Irish street signs wont reverse that belfasttelegraph.co.uk/opinion/column…

.Dónal Lyons & Gerard McDonald took a well earned break from the campaign trail to pull pints at Glastonbury with the Workers Beer Co but decided to bring me along for the craic too. Not jealous at all back here in the rain 😇

The wee apprentice is giving me a hand today with getting Claire Hanna’s posters (and cable ties) down. Our teams will be out over the coming days and will work our way through the constituency.

This is depressing, not in that it’s about me but that there’s young ones being taught that this is how they can best celebrate their community & traditions. There’s a lot more to life than poking people in the eye.

15’000 people in Belfast today to say céad míle fáilte to migrants and refugees, and on your bike to racists and fascists. This is Belfast.

Schools in NI have been underfunded for well over a decade and receive the least per pupil in the UK. If it wasn’t for the dedication and commitment of our teachers the system would have fallen apart already. Politicians need to show the same commitment to children, our future.

If you’re in Belfast city centre at night it’s easier to get a bus to Dublin than Dunmurry. A regular and safe nighttime public transport system is something we were due years ago. The Executive must stop chronically underfunding public transport throughout the north. 🚎

The SDLP’s Dónal Lyons said: “For a comparatively small amount of money, in terms of public expenditure, we are missing a critical bit of transport infrastructure, which is the ability to get home safely at night time, with a shortage of taxis.” irishnews.com/news/frustrati…

Out in Sandy Row this morning letting residents know about my next local constituency clinic, where we can give assistance with problems and address political issues. Appointments can be booked in advance in the details provided or allocated on arrival.

Despite appalling racial violence this summer, the Justice Minister yesterday confirmed she was dropping plans for a standalone hate crime law. That goes against not just an independent review, but her party's owm manifesto. It's a shameful failure of minority communities.

SDLP Cllrs for Derry, Belfast & Newry have submitted emergency motions to get clarity on City Deal funding, and our MLAs asking same in Stormont on Monday. Ludicrous to pause at this developed staged .
