It's not being mentioned here or in other news stories, but there are some important ACO-specific policies ending today. CMS will no longer remove COVID-related inpatient claims from spending and will only protect ACOs from 5/12 of shared losses. modernhealthcare.com/policy/covid-1…

From Andy Slavitt 🇺🇦 at #DukeMargolisPolicyConf: Even if everyone was in FFS, you'd still need value-based care. Even if 80% of Medicare were MA, plans could truly compete on value. So if it's 100% FFS or mostly MA, you still need accountable care. Duke-Margolis

As CMSGov works to increase accountable care arrangements, The National Association of ACOS has heard more and more calls a full-risk option for ACOs. There isn't one in the Shared Savings Program. Smart story by Robert King. POLITICO Pro Meena Seshamani politico.com/newsletters/po…

.Shawn Martin tells Senate Finance Committee barriers exist for practices to move to value-based care, and Congress should work to remove these barriers. Agreed. Policy should incentivize doctors and hospitals to provide higher quality, lower cost care.

Read The National Association of ACOS statement on new CMS Innovation Center primary care model. Not allowing dual participation with ACOs undermines movement to total cost of care models. A better option is to allow ACOs to implement population-based payments for primary care. naacos.com/press-release-…

Fascinating that this was first discovered by The National Association of ACOS. Says alot about what happens when economic incentives drive focus on cost and quality. Seems like we ought to add $2B into the savings column for ACOs. 😃 The National Association of ACOS washingtonpost.com/national-secur…
