I hope one day I will write a book that will demand to be read as much as these paintings demand to be watched. But for the moment my FEELING & KNOWING just quietly asks: read me and you shall discover. 2/2

In “Feeling & Knowing: Making Minds Conscious,” neuroscientist Antonio Damasio argues that consciousness is far more than an algorithmic process. Here's a review by @EmilyCataneo: undark.org/2021/12/03/boo…

Another excerpt from The New York Times review. I thank Jim Holt of the New York Times for recognizing that understanding how feelings are put together in the interior of our organisms is critical to understanding our humanity. #FeelingAndKnowing bit.ly/feelingandknow…

I enjoyed talking with Amy Sutherland for the The Boston Globe. She took me back to some of the things I was reading in my adolescence as well as the recent titles on my coffee table. I forgot to tell her that my new book, #FeelingAndKnowing is also there! bostonglobe.com/2021/12/02/art…

Thank you for a penetrating review of #FeelingAndKnowing in @UNDARKMag. They captured perfectly the absurdity of those who want to upload their consciousness to the cloud. That would be like experiencing a meal by reading a recipe rather than eating. undark.org/2021/12/03/boo…

Reading the audio version of the book is one thing. Interpreting a text vocally is something else. I thank Julian Morris, a great young actor, for interpreting #FeelingAndKnowing. His voice takes my words directly from my new book to the listener. audiobooks.com/audiobook/feel…

Feelings and emotions are often confused as if they were the same thing. But they are NOT. Feelings are subjective experiences, and the oldest of them all are experiences of our bodies as life goes on (homeostatic feelings). Feelings are the beginning of consciousness. 1/2

Emotions are actions and they express to others how well or how poorly we manage our interactions with the world around us. But the experiences of emotions are also feelings, known as emotional feelings. 2/2 #FeelingAndKnowing
