On St. Patrick’s Day 1909, the marriage between Miss Eva Crozier and Lieutenant W. D. Allen of the Black Watch, took place at St. Paul’s Garrison Church, Curragh Camp. After the ceremony, the wedding reception took place at the nearby Castlemartin House. curragh.info/archives/Weddi…

A look back to 1965 and the retirement of Battalion Sergeant Major Danny Douglas of the 3rd Infantry Battalion, “The Bloods”. An outstanding sportsman in many disciplines, Danny went of to coach and mentor many 3rd Bn Teams and local GAA Teams.

In March 1839, the Dublin and Limerick mail coach came under armed fire while passing through the area known as “Murderer’s Hollow”. A number of shots were fired, but no injuries were incurred. The Midnight Militia were to blame. curragh.info/archives/Limer…

In 1884, an extraordinary affray took place at the Curragh Races. A crude form of roulette called “Shake the Monkey” was taken literally and a fight broke out between two opposing groups. However, the unfortunate monkeys took the brunt of the fight. curragh.info/archives/Curra…
