The RAF contributed to ceremonial and other duties during today’s state funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Our personnel are proud & honoured to have served Her Majesty today & throughout her reign.

Of course I’m disappointed the role is back at a junior level, back in the MoD, directly contravening the PM’s pledge to keep the role in her cabinet and going against years of work, but veterans can be confident Sarah will fight their corner hard and back her strongly.

The RAF is restructuring to enhance operational agility & effectiveness. Front-line stations will adopt a new ‘Air Base, Air Wing’ model to optimise command-and-control of enabling/support and operational flying functions respectively. Marham will adopt the new model from 30 Sep.

Gp Capt Fred Wigglesworth will take over as Station Commander Marham, responsible for all enabling/support functions for the UK Lightning Force. Gp Capt Phil Marr will assume the new @CdrLightning role responsible for operational training/readiness of UK F-35 squadrons.
