Perhaps the state that has the most to lose w/ continued climate change is Arizona. Surface water supplies are drying up due to climate change, and bountiful groundwater is being pumped unsustainably. Yeah, it's a dry heat, but w/o water??? cnn.com/interactive/20…

Impressive visualizations of sea level rise impacts w/o serious climate action now. The problem with continued slow action is that we might push the global climate system across tipping points that make bigger warming/sea level rise inevitable. cnn.com/2021/10/12/wor…

Having trouble conceptualizing 1 deg of warming? Here's a plot of historical temperatures, expressed as a fraction of Ice Age Units. 1 IAU = 6°C, the temperature increase since the last ice age, at time when the Earth looked like a completely different planet.

India's new pledge to get to net-zero by 2070 is a pretty big deal. While usual caveats apply for any such long-term commitments, it would be consistent with a world where warming is limited to well-below 2C by the end of the century in-line with Paris Agreement goals.

Climate change - what's at stake? A huge amount of human suffering and death for those in the black-colored areas below. Of course climate extremes elsewhere around the planet will cause the same thing. Massive human migrations are also likely. ft.com/content/072b5c…
