#FramStraitNPI 2023 🛶 The ice team's work: + 7 sea ice stations on drift ice and on fast ice. + 37 icebergs registered. + Sea ice observations during satellite overpasses. + Strategic support with Copernicus EU data. Thanks to Oceans & Sea Ice NPI et al. - it has been fantastic.

Upcoming EO Group UiT seminars this semester! Thursdays at 2 pm CET. en.uit.no/forskning/fors…

Where is the Ku-band satellite radar altimeter signal backscattering from over snow-covered sea ice? 🛰️❄️🧊This is the big question PhD Student Claude de Rijke Thomas tackled in his new paper with @RobbieMallett, Rosie Willatt, Michel Tsamados, Josh King ieeexplore.ieee.org/document/10261…

Our final seminar for EO Group UiT 1.0! Perhaps a record audience for the seminar series because we hear from our director and founder Torbjørn Eltoft, who retires this year, and is giving us a look back and forward...

Congratulations Henrik Fisser of EO Group UiT who received the Best Student Paper Presentation award at the International IAHR Symposium on Ice today! His talk was on iceberg drift trajectories derived from optical satellite data in the Barents Sea 🌊 🧊🛰

Quite a contrast to last summer's ice concentration in the Fram Strait. In situ observations on the fast ice are valuable for validating remote sensing retrievals, so we're glad about two long days on the ice. 🛰️ EO Group UiT
