'Axe the racing tax' fails to understand we are talking about the tax bookmakers pay. Bookmakers pay on all products and most punters play many products. Any tax increase on any product will affect the money bookmakers can pay racing.

Gambling on racing does not live in a vacuum. It is part of a wider product that includes sports betting and casino. Any tax increases, advertising bans, public health approach to regulation and affordability checks are all bad news for racing. Gambling is a normal activity.
