I am very happy to be part of the team and continue to learn about the evolution of clonal organisms . Its also great to see that methods of "classical" species evolution and somatic (cancer) evolution are of mutual benefit Barts and The London, Queen Mary Cancer Research UK UK Research and Innovation Queen Mary University of London Cancer Grand Challenges

1. Delighted to present work from my time in Andrea Sottoriva's lab, now in Nature Cancer! A big effort also led by Javier Fernández-Mateos and Nick Trahearn. We combined genomics + digital pathology to measure evolution in a prostate cancer (PCa) clinical trial. nature.com/articles/s4301…

Congratulations Alexander Stein . It has some nice advances on our theoretical understanding of somatic genetic heterogeneity in different contexts. Also, anyone that gets through the entire supplement deserves a cooky 🥳.

Very happy this is out. A very original idea by Marius Moeller and WeiniHuang to look at the jump size distributions of fixations of variants in constant populations. This distribution is very rugged with a large tail, suggesting that at times, many variants fix together.

A new preprint on the spatial temporal evolution of ecDNA amplified oncogenes in Glioblastoma. Great joined effort of the labs of Charles Swanton Mischel Lab WeiniHuang Howard Chang us and many others. Special congrats to Imran Noorani and Magnus Haughey

Yet another preprint on the evolutionary dynamics if ecDNA. Elisa Scanu and WeiniHuang developed a very general framework to model multi type/species ecDNAs to investigate when mixed cell states are lost or maintained. One of multiple works to come, congratulations!

Still looking for a PhD? One week to apply for CRUKCOLcentre PhD programme and join our lab Barts Cancer Institute (Queen Mary) to work on exciting new project at the interface of cancer and chromatin biology.
