The Falkland Islands Gov community #library in Stanley is one of my favourite places to spend time. The librarians put so much effort into making it welcoming and fun. This month there's a selection of 'mystery' books to break you out of a reading rut, and a great LGBT+ History Month 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ display.

Monthly library lunchtime book chatter today, one of my favourite events. Rather than all reading the same book we discuss different books we've read recently. Here are some short reviews: Testament Of Youth by Vera Brittain: "It dragged on, as did the First World. War."

It’s been a hugely worthwhile couple of days learning how to deal with wildfires. A sad new reality, but important to be prepared as our climate changes and wildfires become more frequent.

It’s been both fascinating and really useful to learn about wildfires and how to fight them. Thanks to Andy Elliott and Rob Gazzard as well as the Falklands fire service for some excellent training.

"Welcome to Cornwall - the one you might not know about" - a humourous yet sensitive look at second homes, the closure of Crofty and living 4 miles from the sea in Camborne, Pool and Redruth but never having visited or even seen it. An amazing bunch of writers and performers ❤

I wish I could have been there, but it sounded like a great evening. Well done all involved, and thanks to Trevenen for reading my story.

Midwinter swim frolics today…

Midwinter swim madness here in the #Falklands today. 200 of us in 4°c seas raising money for local charities and proving our ability to make good choices. Brilliant fun, and nobody got eaten by a sea lion.

It’s a cold and frosty day in the Falklands. The freezing fog made sunrise particularly stunning.
