B.C. is an outlier among Canadian provinces in not employing physician assistants. Read yesterday’s story from the The Vancouver Sun on the critical role PAs can play alleviating the province's staffing challenges 👇 vancouversun.com/health/physici… #BCNeedsPAs #BCHealth

76.4% with a regular care provider in last census. Worse than provincial and national average. Improve access and you might not need so many surveys to announce new programs or future improvements. communityhealth.phsa.ca/CHSAHealthProf…

We asked Canadian PAs and PA students if they would want to work in B.C. if PAs were allowed, over 50 responded "YES, 100%" . It's time to remove the barriers for PAs to work in B.C. #CanadaNeedsPAs #BCNeedsPAs

Dr. Rita McCracken, MD, PhD (she/her) Paul Winston MD - Restoring Movement is the goal. @DrJLush The fact that PAs haven’t been fast tracked in BC is an abomination. We can’t find surgical assists anymore at our hospital and at some point cases are going to be cancelled because of it. PAs would help GPs in teams enormously! Eric Demers, PA 🇨🇦🩺🪖

“Hello College of physicians?” “Didn’t we just talk yesterday?” “Yes. We have another issue. Many of our docs are working flat out. Their productivity in the current model can’t really improve further. If anything the workload just isn’t safe for the patients or the doctors.”

The only update on physician assistants since adopting the bylaw. 1. Pretty sure there’s no PAs or CAPA | ACAM at the table to work on the compensation model 2. Lots of policies about PA across 🇨🇦 should be fairly simple 3. Not sure why @cpsbc mentions associate physicians

Airlines are disappointing First - Air Canada had ops issue that resulted in missed flight Great they rebooked Second - tried accessing WestJet lounge because of “Gold” status turns out their loyalty is only if you fly with them Do better 🇨🇦 airlines Loyalty is more than $

Physician Assistants could be key members in Specialists Team Care model! 📣 CPSBC bylaws changed to allow PAs to practice, but only in EDs & employed by Health Authorities. This must be expanded, as there are so many healthcare gaps PAs can fill! #BCNeedsPAs 🩺 Kevin Mcleod

We will be there! Will you? Let's advocate together for the changes that we know can have a huge impact on patients' lives NOW. Physician Assistants are working in other provinces in all healthcare settings. Why is the BC MoH limiting their practice settings in BC?!
