Today, #OldYundum stood united against FGM. 💔 A baby girl lost her life, but her memory fuels our fight. With women, youth & religious voices, we reignited our commitment to justice. The time to end FGM is now. Thank you DML for your leadership & support.

Under bold leadership, we rose to confront pain, challenge norms, and demand change. The silence is broken. The time to end FGM is now. #EndFGM #WellingaraRising

At least six young women have reportedly been arrested. Tear gas, intimidation, brute force tactics from Jammeh’s era are back on our streets. We haven’t forgotten what women endured in detention. We demand their immediate release. #Gambia must not repeat its past.

For 22 years, peaceful assembly was denied in 🇬🇲. Today, youth who make up over 70% of our population are being jailed for exercising their rights & The security sector still clings to tactics of the past. But let’s be clear, youth aren't just the majority they're the movement.

According to the 2019–2020 DHS, 51% of Gambian women and 35% of men believe that a husband is justified in beating his wife if she burns food or goes out without his permission. Let’s process this!!

There is no excuse for domestic violence. Every woman deserves safety, dignity, and respect. Reject any justification grounded in culture or circumstance.. #NotInMyName @Fbaldeh The Period girl🩸 Sophie Manneh Jainaba Faye Awa Gai

Violence against women is a criminal act, and so is inciting it. So next time any religious leader publicly condones such behavior, I sincerely hope law enforcement responds appropriately and takes action too.

Religious intolerance and tribalism have been catalysts for conflict in many African nations. The Gambia must take heed and learn from these experiences

Gender-based violence in The Gambia is rising, with rape cases deeply alarming. Our girls deserve safety, dignity & justice. No more silence. No more Maslaha. ✊ #EndGBV #JusticeForGirls Fatou Baldeh MBE Ministry of Justice Women In Liberation and Leadership-WILL

Another baby girl 3-week-old is dead. Taken by a vicious, outlawed act that has no place in any society. This isn’t just a tragedy. It’s an outrage. How many infants must be buried before we stop hiding behind tradition and start defending life? #GambiaEndFGM

She was only three weeks old, her life stolen by the very hands that were supposed to shield her. Families must stand firm. Mothers must refuse to surrender their daughters to this brutal tradition. #FGM is not a religious obligation. It is not cultural pride. It is violvece

A newborn girl died from #FGM. Two adults pleaded guilty & walked free after paying just D10,000 (less than £160). This isn’t justice. It’s a disgrace. Until the law treats FGM as the violence it is, girls will keep paying the price. The law must speak louder than tradition.
