The UN’s report differed from Paris’s account on key issues around the identity of the victims of the Bounti airstrike.

When approached by Bellingcat and Afrique XXI for comment, the French Armed Forces did not substantively respond and directed reporters to previous statements denying any wrongdoing.

Incidents like Bounti raise further questions about the efficacy of oversight into arms sales. It also gives cause for concern about the impact of foreign forces and their missions on the people of the Sahel.

I commend DHS’s critical TPS designation for Cameroon. As I’ve said before, Temporary Protected Status was created by Congress for exactly this purpose.

#Cameroon remains too dangerous for Cameroonian nationals to return home. I salute the immigrants’ rights leaders who fought tirelessly for this designation.

And I will continue to call on the Biden Administration to do more to combat disparities towards Black migrants in the immigration system.
