We did it! In less than 48 hours, we smashed our 1766-mile target! In this short time, we've had an incredible 138 mileage entries and we've collectively covered 2,134 miles!! But don't stop there. Please keep logging your miles here: bit.ly/4arCbYZ

What a witty, entertaining, and brilliant read. Publishing this week is such ideal timing, when considering the inclusion of a chapter dedicated to road danger reduction and featuring the RoadPeace challenge. Totally recommend reading…

Well done to everyone who took part. A vital contribution to both RoadPeace and road safety. A special mention to the astonishing & brilliant Rebecca Morris - your effort since the conception of the challenge has been integral to its success. Now so more than ever - thank you! 💜

Excellent article Gwyn Topham on the introduction of intelligent speed assistance. ISA will be mandated on all new vehicles across EU & NI from today. Part of GSR package of life saving tech that should become part of Department for Transport GB type approval. theguardian.com/technology/art…

Really great meeting with you Dame Rachel de Souza. Pleased to be able to discuss our ambitions to innovate and find new ways of working to provide the best possible police custody environment for child detainees.

Criminals attacking the police & stoking disorder on our streets will pay the price for their violence & thuggery. The police have the full backing of Government to take the strongest possible action & ensure they face the full force of the law. They do not represent Britain.

Today we held our commendation ceremony, which is always a day which makes me feel fortunate and proud to lead Met Detention. Commendations awarded included; life-saving work; sustained contributions and excellence in detainee care; and work which delivered justice for victims.

We are developing a child centred custody approach trialling new ideas. Including drawing boards in cells providing a chance to focus their minds during what can be a stressful time. The pic was drawn by a detained child. I hope their obvious potential is realised. #Custody #Art

A national memorial for Sergeant Matt Ratana has been unveiled outside the Windmill Road Custody Centre in Croydon. This memorial is a fitting and lasting tribute to Matt who was murdered in the line of duty on this day in 2020. Through this tribute he will be remembered always

Proud Dad moment today as my youngest joins the service! That’s both of them now! Policing is still such a brilliant job. Challenging, diverse, and incredibly rewarding, with countless opportunities to make a positive difference. I’m excited to watch their journey!

A jury has unanimously cleared a Met firearms officer of murder following the police shooting of Chris Kaba in Lambeth in September 2022. Watch Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley's statement.

At Met Detention we strive for excellence. Feedback like this means so much: ‘The nurses and Sgts couldn’t have treated me better—just thanks! They were brilliant (fussed over my health more than needed—how good is that!). Thank you police and all the officers who cared for me!’

A brilliant national crash investigation conference yesterday. Great presentations, one from a bereaved mother who lost her daughter to an outrageous dangerous driver. Her words were so emotional and powerful that it left in no doubt the importance of this work. Truly inspiring!

Very privileged to speak at the remembrance service for road crash victims held in London. Crash victims and bereaved families spoke so powerfully and beautifully. Their experience means so much. Every single road death is unacceptable. We must collectively do better. #WDoR2024

Nicholas Winton helped 669 Jewish children escape the Nazis. His efforts went unrecognized for 50 years. Then in 1988, while sitting as a member of a TV audience, he suddenly found himself surrounded by the kids he’d rescued, now adults. I like to remember this every Jan 27th.
