In this thread is a summary and analysis of the contents of the Biden Administration's newly released "National Strategy for Countering Domestic Terrorism", its surrounding context, and what I believe it means for movements for liberation going forward. whitehouse.gov/wp-content/upl…

If a State criminalizes houselessness while at the same time creating conditions where houselessness is unavoidable for many people, that means houselessness—and the punishment of it—is a FUNCTION (not a byproduct) of that State.

Extended metaphor on accountability: A group of us are painting a home interior together. I have taken up the task of climbing up a ladder and painting the trim along the ceiling. The problem is: I keep dropping the paint can on the head of anyone who happens to come near me.

When I see trans people trying to police the borders of transness/apply rigid definitions of trans identity I think about a 1996 interview with Leslie Feinberg & Kate Bornstein, two early trans theorists, in which they said that transgender is *any* kind of gender nonconformity.

Love bombing is a specific tactic of abusers in which they shower you in excessive amounts of attention, admiration, and affection for a limited amount of time to develop a false sense of connection in order to make you feel beholden to your relationship with them. 🧵

Abusers are certainly *capable* of change. However, most, even when provided the opportunities to do so, choose not to. This is bc abuse is not an individual pathology but an *ideology* which is supported by the dominant structures of society. Abusers BENEFIT from being abusers.
