We are devastated about the passing of SMRU legend Dr Bernie McConnell. He had been with SMRU 40 years and served as both deputy director and head of SMRU Instrumentation. He was life and soul of every meeting and party, and will be hugely missed. Our thoughts are with his loved ones

Amazing results from our satellite telemetry project with Southern right whales in Argentina. Electra, a whale seen with a calf at the time of tagging, is back home after 6 months. It’s the first time we record a mom’s full migratory cycle. And her track looks like a whale 😊!
