Discussion on Chairs’ briefing meetings for functional processing of #Committee policy Heather Mack raises concerns over conflict, Cllr Gollop says if individuals want to create conflict they will in any system. Should Strategy & Resources be a super cttee of all chairs?
Committee Model Raised issue of #WhoseSideAreYouOn if a councillor is appointed to be a board member on an External Partnership i.e. are they representing the public or the company? The answer is they represent the company. So who represents us? Alex Seabrook❗️ 💚 one kind act at a time
Congratulations Torin Minȝies Your contribution to #ScrapTheMayor was brilliant, insightful and beyond your years. We couldn’t have done it without you. The University of Sheffield is lucky to have you studying #Politics I scrapped the mayor but didnt shoot the deputy🐪 💚 one kind act at a time Ruth Hubbard AdamPostansLDR Alex Seabrook❗️
Probably the most public spirited act I’ve done was to coordinate the 5-party, Bristol Green Party BSG Conservatives Bristol Lib Dems 🔶 rebel Labour and Knowle Independents Party coalition to remove the role of Bristol mayor. It’s #OurCity not his! #ItsOurCity run for the people by the people.

Tom Bugs Bristol City Council It is that disdain, demeaning and disregard which inspired many of people to vote in the referendum to remove the role of mayor. Although It’s Our City Bristol never made it personal the pro-campaign did, that was their downfall as ordinary people just want to be heard not dismissed.
Danica Priest🦇🦎🦇🦎🍃💚🍃 Graham Morris Yes I had spotted that a few days ago! I like Graham Morris he was a trooper delivering It’s Our City Bristol leaflets in the referendum! And while I was down on the South side, my mate and I delivered them around Knowle and Filwood too! Only 49 days left! 🙌
Gavin Bridge. John Darvall Bristol24/7 I hope property developers are nervous. The public have been nervous for years about: excessive lobbying & improper influence; party political interference & pre-determination; selective application of policies; misrepresentation & bullying bristol247.com/opinion/your-s… Joe Banks
Gavin Bridge. John Darvall Bristol24/7 Joe Banks Sadly, "I can appreciate why you say that, however..." has worn very thin. And, importantly, it has done nothing to address the housing crisis in Bristol. If anything the crass #gettingstuffdone slogan, and "come and have a chat to the mayor's office", has made things worse.
Comprehensive yet concise round up of the ‘legacy of the mayor’ by Martin Booth With It’s Our City Bristol co-founder 💚 one kind act at a time @Mary4BristolNW quoted. Only 25 day left of the #MadnessOfTheMayor #Vote4Change Vote for candidates who want to make committees model work!
Suzanne Audrey Gavin Bridge. John Darvall Bristol24/7 And the fact the planning department under this regime is one of the very few LPAs in the country to be put into special measures by the Secretary of State…a distinction this great city now shares alone with Uttlesford, Chorley and St Albans.

The UK government's austerity agenda, & Bristol's ill-fated mayoral system, are the context for this collection of essays from activists focussing on promoting inclusion, community campaigning & city planning. tangentbooks.co.uk/shop/pre-order… Martin Booth Tristan Cork Post Charlie Watts
Barb Drummond This is exactly right. When you let corporate interests determine policy, the outcomes don’t benefit the public and are usually idiotic. Absolutely.
