Effective administrators don’t make observations during high stress for their teachers. They also have visited classrooms enough to know who’s highly effective and already mentoring any who need it so that the observation is not a big deal.

School Boards, stop whining about literacy scores and start managing the superintendent. Make 'Literacy Improvement' part of the Sup's formal evaluation. Factor in survey data from educators about preparedness, materials, management, usability, and alignment. Do. Your. Job.

Standardized tests aren't designed to reflect any real grade level competencies, but to create a norm distribution where half the students feel like failures, even before they have had a chance to experience real success in school.
