Happy #InternationalBeaverDay! 🦫 Do you have a question about beavers? Not sure who to ask? Ask me! I did my PhD on #beavers & still study them! No question is too silly, small, or strange. If I can’t answer your question, I’ll probably know who can & will point you to them.

Just gave a talk about mistakes in #restoration and how we need more open discussions of failure in our work to destigmatize and learn from mistakes! The flagship restoration journal actually has a place to submit project/experimental failures! onlinelibrary.wiley.com/page/journal/1…

And if you have been involved with using quantitative functional traits (from a database or measured directly) in restoration planning or assessment, get in touch! (DM or email us) We are planning a follow up effort examining successes and lessons learned.

I was diagnosed with cancer in April. Unfortunately, chemotherapy, radiation, and immunotherapy couldn’t tame this, and my medical team is now focused on keeping me comfortable while I spend the last chapter of my life with my partner, family, and friends. 1/4

NEW DATA ALERT🚨: Since 2017, collaborators and I have been cobbling together all the data we can find on #invasiveplant abundance. That collated dataset is finally live! It's incredible seeing the transition from degraded, single-thread streams into expansive beaver-engineered wetlands. And it only took a handful of #beavers to do this. Imagine what the continent and the rivers looked like prior to the Fur Trade, back when beavers were abundant!
