I feel torn between extreme relief that something halfway-decent has finally happened, and profound melancholy that we find ourselves applauding wildly don’t when leaders do the absolute bare minimum that they should have done long ago. The standards are so incredibly low.

And if you cant save to buy a property because it’s all going on rent, the UK becomes a neo-mediaeval state, where the only way you can secure home ownership is through inherited wealth. Income wealth will count for nothing and social mobility is broken.
