The Fighting Illini are a team that formerly had a racist Native Mascot that was called Chief Illiniwek. They still participate in racist Native American things with their chants, dances and dressing up "regalia", war paint, and most offensively wearing headdresses.

Hey Penn Staters‼️ Please be mindful today watching the Nittany Lions play the Fighting Illini. The Fighting Illini used to have racist Native American mascots, traditions, and culture that some of their fans still follow today. #WeAre #WeAreStillHere #BanNDNMascots
