On Feb 24, 1808, politician, lawyer & abolitionist Stephen S. Harding was born. He became a lawyer & in 1828 took a business trip to New Orleans where he witnessed slave markets first hand. He practiced law in Versailles & became a leader in the Indiana abolition movement.
