If anybody was wondering why I was playing with these "funnies" yesterday, here's the result: generating test-data for my data-parallel renderer (in this case 800M unique triangles, and a few million instances too, across two GPUs): ingowald.blog/2023/01/22/sil…

After all these many years since I first saw this ages ago….still my favorite error message ever. Glad it still exists…

"First light" for my experimental "optix-in-python" pyOWL experiments; using RTX-accelerated ray tracing on the GPU with python-interface for host-side scene setup. Still a lot of missing features, but I'd claim this is already recognizable :-)

After having _always_ built all my previous #modelships without any paint, today was the first time I put a paintbrush on my #hmssurprise… man, this first time feels totally surreal…but I do have to admit it kinda got something…

We dropped the source code for our 2023 EuroVis paper on AMR dual grid rendering on Github: github.com/owl-project/ow…; including several different AMR volume samplers, volume path tracer, and majorant-based acceleration structures. Talk tomorrow afternoon, at #EuroVis2023

New paper pre-print for our HPG23 paper (with Milan Jaros and Stefan Zellmann) on data-parallel multi-gpu path tracing: sci.utah.edu/~wald/Publicat…. Main thing for this method is just how super simple it actually is.

Believe it or not: I just had a server - after seeing my Nvidia shirt - tell me “thank you for your work, in making the video games I so much enjoy”…

pynari on Mac ... Still "somewhat experimental" (this Mac literally arrived this morning!) - but this looks about right 😎

The Utah Symphony and David Robertson surpassed themselves tonight: 5 standing ovations and 2 encores. Jurassic park was one of the best performances I’ve ever heard (in any format), and Adkins’s Schindler solo - just out of this world… Williams would be proud indeed!
