I say this to parents at school. The fat tech cats make their billions off you giving your children the latest tech gadget while they fill their houses with books.

Very important research out from Ofqual today on marking consistency, including fascinating stuff on comparative judgement. Key takeaway: comparative judgement is a better predictor of marks than marking!! blog.nomoremarking.com/comparative-ju…

We are debating whether to use “emerging, developing, secure and mastering” or just maths grades (1-9) for KS3. Can you share your views/experience with this, please? Many thanks

Opinion is needed. Edexcel Maths 2019 1H last question on green and red. Which method do you think will get full marks? The number/ratio method (trial and error) or algebraic one starting r/r+g etc? I had a conversation about it at school and want to get opinions.

Schools may bring up to 10 pupils and 2 teachers. The pupils will spend the day working with Cambridge maths colleagues, while teachers will have an in-depth CPD day on how to work with high attaining pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds. The event will be entirely FREE.

I’m signing off for Christmas now, I’ll be back on Tuesday 27th, but before I go, how about a giveaway? One lucky person who Retweets and Follows by midnight on 31st December will get to pick a shelf from my bookcase of the year and be sent all six books from it! Merry Xmas!

My papers are likely to be incredibly late due a battle with TeamYouTube who are demonetising my videos saying they are aimed at kids below age 12. I'd really appreciate if you can tag TeamYouTube and retweet this. It's literally crippling my income at a key time of year.

Thanks Mr Barton. I might try this tomorrow. We just did similar earlier this week and the students got stuck so this will do nicely. x.com/mrbartonmaths/…
