The 2023 Iowa All State Music Festival is in the books! Yesterday’s All State concert was AMAZING! Congrats to our Indianola students on this incredible honor! 😎👏👏 The All State Concert will be broadcast on IPTV on Thanksgiving Day at 7 PM and Sunday, December 3 at 3 PM.

The IHS Winter Guard competed at the Iowa State Dance & Drill Team Championships at Wells Fargo Arena this afternoon. They earned 4th place in their division with their Grey’s Anatomy show! Congratulations to these amazing students and coach Audrey Chambers!

Jazz 1 & Jazz 2 had excellent performances at the SCIBA Jazz Festival in Waukee yesterday! Solo awards for Jazz 1 went to Keegan Tilley-guitar & Jakob Kjellberg-tenor sax. Jazz 2’s solo awards went to Max Green-tenor sax, Cailey Baker-trombone & Carly Schettler-trumpet. 👏👏👏

Lots of learning at our combined clinic jazz combo event at IHS! The high school jazz bands from Norwalk & Carlisle also attended & each band was able to get better through the clinics! The guest clinicians performing a jazz combo set for the students—-it was fantastic!! 👏👏

Congrats to the 28 IHS Band students that participated in the Little Hawkeye Conference Honor Band today! 👏🎶😎

Today was Drake Honor Jazz! The 7 IHS band students worked on some jazz tunes with students from different schools & performed an evening concert. It was awesome! Almost all of the Indianola students played an improvised solo at the concert. 👏👏😎

Congrats to Jazz 1 on their 3rd place finish (out of 14 bands) at the Morningside Jazz Festival! An extra bonus was senior tenor sax player Jakob Kjellberg was named the overall outstanding soloist for class 4A! Great job!

The SE Polk Jazz Fest was yesterday and the 8th grade jazz band, Jazz 2 & Jazz 1 performed. Jazz 1 & Jazz 2 both placed 4th in their respective classes! Great job!

State Large Group Music Contest for our instrumentalists was today at Ankeny Centennial High School. The Symphonic Band earned a Division 2 Rating, Wind Ensemble a Division 1 Rating and the Orchestra a Division 1 Rating. Congrats to the students and directors for their hard work!
