Congestion pricing means safer streets for all New Yorkers. Governor Kathy Hochul: Don’t delay congestion pricing. We need to do everything we can to prevent crashes and save lives.

Last night was historic for local bike advocacy. Worked w BikeLoud PDX to bring 27 city council candidates (including 3 mayoral hopefuls) to Bike Happy Hour where they were split into 4 teams & tasked to fix a flat tire together. This is what democracy looks like! 👊🚲🙏

When I vote for mayor of Portland and the new city Council this fall, the rise of reckless driving is going to be a top issue for me. Unlike many problems, this one is very much in city government's control, through both street design and enforcement.

Tough pill for many Americans to swallow. While compelling, this argument will not reduce car use. Big picture concepts like this and the impact any one person has is hard for people to grasp. Any sort reduction has to be engineered and designed.

I don't think it's a coincidence that "big city mayor" became a dead-end job right around the time "process" and "community input" became huge parts of city governments. Big city mayors can't really *do* anything they just exhaust themselves fighting with endless bureaucracy.

One reason the pre-industrial world is the site of so much fantasy literature is that there are walkable cities but no sprawl. So there's plenty of nature. Also, plot-driving events happen when strangers meet on a road, but not if they are in cars.
