🇩🇪 This week we’re in Bremen for the Fifth Arctic-Antarctic and North Pacific #Mapping Meeting! Hosted by #Seabed2030's Southern Ocean Regional Center and #Arctic and North Pacific #Ocean Regional Center.

Some of our Center Heads, Boris Dorschel, Martin Jakobsson, and Larry Mayer, have already been sharing #updates from their respective centers and we're excited to hear more!

🎤 We’ve been hearing some brilliant insights here in Bremen. ✔️ Stephen Rump at Fugro Germany #Marine talked us through Fugro's contribution to #Seabed2030, detailing the hydro and cable route surveys, automated processing, WebGIS, and more.

🇩🇪 Second day at the 5th Arctic-Antarctic & North Pacific #Mapping Meeting. Today’s agenda started with Son V Nghiem of NASA JPL, who offered a detailed look at how #bathymetry influences the differences in observed melting of sea ice between the #Arctic and Antarctic regions.

Next up at the 5th Arctic-Antarctic & North Pacific Mapping Meeting in Bremen. 💡Insightful presentation from Alastair G. C. Graham, of Cardiff University, on how to map the seabed in #Antarctica using systems such as the Hugin Autonomous #Underwater Vehicle by KONGSBERG.

🎤 What incredible insights! Mary-Lynn Dickson, from Geological Survey/Commission géologique Canada, gave a presentation about the efforts to determine the scientific grounds for Canada's extended continental shelf claims according to the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea.

🙌 And that’s a wrap! On the final day of the 5th Arctic-Antarctic & North Pacific #Mapping Meeting participants enjoyed a tour of AWI Media - the biggest institution for polar and #ocean research and #science in Germany 🇩🇪

Great to take part in SCAR CHILE 2024!🇨🇱 #SCAR shapes the future of polar research and fosters global collaboration. Speaking at the event Patrick Schwarzbach from our Southern Ocean Center shared an IBCSO update on the need for more data. Learn more: ibcso.org/scar-osc-2024/

For the first time in history, the #IBCSO creation team, supported by Seabed 2030’s Southern Ocean Center, started to give the first annual update to the previously published IBCSO V2.

This #milestone marks a significant step forward in improving our understanding of seafloor topography in the remote and often inaccessible #SouthernOcean, which remains one of the least-mapped regions of our planet.
