Aanother high profile youngster knocks back the Blue Jays. Japanese phenom Roki Sasaki has chosen the Dodgers over the Blue Jays. Is it the location? The front office? Money? Whatever the reason I can't see this season being any different to 2024.

Gary Stevens, the tough tackling rugby league second rower from South Sydney's golden years, has passed away. Deepest sympathy to his family and friends. May he at last be in peace.

Vale Fred Stolle, former great Aussie tennis champion, coach and broadcaster. I worked with Fred at the Nine network. He was a great raconteur and had a great lifestyle in Florida. RIP mate.

Congratulations to ABC radio for their ongoing coverage of the weather emergency in Brisbane. Like thousands of others I've been without power, phone and internet for days. The local community station and commercials were useless but ABC did an outstanding job. Well done to all.

Regardless of your political leanings I think everyone would agree that the Qld Premier has done an outstanding job in keeping the community informed during the weather alert. Emergency services were well prepared. Thank you Energex, SES, Fire, Police etc.

So the JFK files are about to be released but there'll be no official conclusion from the government. That means everyone will have their own conclusions and the "conspiracy theories" will remain as everyone will have their own spin.

...and so the political plants from all parties will wax lyrical on here for the next 5 weeks about their respective party policies and disdain for those who oppose them. Excuse me if I take my leave from here for 5 weeks.

I doubt the next Liberal Prime Minister is in parliament yet

The Libs will be in opposition for at least six more years. The scale of the Labor win will virtually assure them victory next time around as there will be too many seats to win for the coalition. As I've posted before the next Liberal PM is probably not in parliament yet.

Isn't it time the PVL, oops I mean NRL, did away with the naming of positions in teams. e.g. hookers don't hook,props only sometime hold up someone in the scrum, locks and second rowers are rarely in scrums but fullbacks are. Name players by number not position .

Brian Wilson is known as the leader of the Beach Boys but he was much more than that. He was the creative genius behind their sound using harmonies modeled on the Four Freshman, a pop/jazz group from the 50's. Brian Wilson has died at the age of 82 but his creations live on.

One of the great rock and roll pioneers has left us. Connie Francis had a huge number of hits in the late 50's and 60's including Lipstick on Your Collar, Stupid Cupid, Where the Boys Are and many, many more. She was 87. R.I.P.

I see that Fox League have sacked one of their reporters after being charged with alleged drink driving and other offences. Naturally you won't hear about it on Fox.

This game was another example of what a great coach Bellamy is . You never saw Stefano play like that when he was at Wests. It just shows how a great coach and great club can turn the ordinary into the spectacular.

Watching the world series on Fox makes me realize how much I miss Vin Scully.

Several things must be learned by the Blue Jays after the 18 inning heartbreaker. Learn how to bunt. Don't be too hasty replacing the best hitters with pinch runners and learn how to run the bases. That game was there to be won. Just how they back up remains to be seen.

I'm glad I've lived long enough to see Shohei Ohtani play baseball. He's the best and most complete player I've ever seen. I hope the younger generation appreciate what they are seeing. Players like him only come around once in a lifetime. Pity he's wearing a Dodger uniform.
