I have been trying to make sense of the recent proposed quantum algorithm for Learning-With-Errors, and what it means in practice. To do so I have created a document where I put my thoughts. Some may disagree with these thoughts, some may agree.... nigelsmart.github.io/LWE.html

This is exactly why we have Ask Cryptography and although I understand the friction of registering to a new website, we are loosing a lot for archiving purposes. Here is an illustration of how it will be easier if people went to askcryp.to/2024/555 from the beginning (1/n):

Excluding bots, 13% of all incoming requests (over TLS 1.3) are secured with post-quantum encryption now. This will continue to grow: not even half of Chrome users have upgraded to 124 that enables PQC by default. We're well on track for 25% next week. Will we hit 35% even?

Telegram has launched a pretty intense campaign to malign Signal as insecure, with assistance from Elon Musk. The goal seems to be to get activists to switch away from encrypted Signal to mostly-unencrypted Telegram. I want to talk about this a bit. 1/

Almost got scammed today. A deepfake Zoom call, impersonating a Polygon founder, was sent by someone I actually know in real life. If you’re in crypto, you need to read this.

The best builders have terrible timing. They showed up to Bitcoin when it was “magic internet money”. They coded smart contracts when gas was cheap because no one cared. They studied ZK when everyone said it was too complex. They were all too early. Until they weren't.
